With this week being the first full week of Summer and recent temperature reaching record highs, we thought it would be the perfect time for a #SunnySunday day out.
If you’re looking to really explore England, you could have a day out visiting Alnwick Castle, perhaps known more to you and me as the site of Hogwarts school in the Harry Potter films. Here you can explore the grounds and really see for yourself where Harry had his first flying lesson, the exit that led to Hagrid’s Hut and the forbidden forest. You can even discover the building where Ron crashed the Weasley’s flying car! The castle even offers broomstick lessons to keep the children entertained.
However, for something that’s perhaps a bit more dynamic and picturesque, Woolacombe Beach in Devon is the place to be. It holds the ‘England for Excellence Gold Award’ and last year won the best beach in Britain award from TripAdvisor. This place really does provide a wealth of varied opportunities. It can be a wonderful romantic getaway or a retreat for the family with excellent surrounding hotels and pubs. This three-mile long stretch of golden sand has been commended for the quality of its local activities, water quality, and cleanliness.
Considered one of the wonders of the West Country, the Roman Baths are a wonderfully pristine piece of ancient history. Funnily enough, they’re found in the town of Bath and although you can’t bathe in them, you can soak up the atmosphere by exploring the site during the day or if you wait until evening, you can enjoy a walk around their beautiful torchlit summer evenings. Outside of the historical significance and beauty, the Bathes can rustle up some pretty tasty grub in their Pump Room Resturant, which is open daily for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.
Hopefully, we’ve given you a few treats to trek to if you ever feel like exploring England a little bit.
